Stretch Marks and Ways to Remove Stretch Marks - Part 1

STRETCH MARKS

Stretch Marks are slightly depressed linear marks with varying length and breadth found in pregnancy. They are predominantly found in the abdominal wall below the umbilicus, sometimes over the thighs and the breasts.

Initially these are pinkish but after the delivery, the scar tissue contract and obliterates the capillaries and they become glistening white in appearance.

Apart from the mechanical stretching of the skin, increase in aldosterone production during pregnancy is the responsible factors.

Besides pregnancy some other causes of stretch marks are: Rapidly gaining weight (Bulking cycle), Puberty, Obesity, Heredity, Skin Type, Stress, Poor Diet and Sudden Environmental Change ).

Every woman in her life develops stretch marks. Some women have a family disposition to develop stretch marks whereas others do not develop them at all. Once the stretch marks develop they will stay with you forever; but with time they will be less noticeable.

Stretch marks are often think to be scars but they are different from scars. They are not scars because they are not comprised of fibrotic tissue. Instead, stretch marks represent a flattened, thin epidermis overlying gaps in the dermis left by stretched or torn elastin fibers.

HOME REMEDIES FOR STRETCH MARKS

Lie down on the floor. Bend that knee and place your foot in front of your bottom leg, then try to raise the bottom leg up about six inches. Then lower the leg to the floor. Begin with 8 to 10 bottom-leg raises on each side at least three times a week. Slowly increase the workout.

Sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor; hands either by your sides or in your lap, then swing both legs up so that they're extended straight out in front of you at seat level. Put your hands down at your sides to hold on to your chair and swing your legs up until they're fully extended. Then lift each leg, from foot to hip, about three to six inches.

To firm your bottom, lie facedown on the floor, arms out at your shoulders, elbows bent and palms flat on the floor. Now lift one leg, heel first, off the floor about three to six inches, then lower it back to the floor and repeat the lift with your other leg.

For stretch marks treatment, diet should be rich in protein and foods rich in Vitamin C and Vitamin E, they promote good tissue growth.

Massaging your body with olive oil or Vitamin E may help.

Prepare a mixture by adding one ounce of carrier oil ( try avocado, sweet almond, jojoba, they are the best ) with seven drops of lavender and five drops of chamomile. Apply on the affected areas.

Apply cocoa butter and / or elastin cream through out the body. These are very good for stretch marks.

Take 1/2-cup virgin olive oil, 1/4-cup aloe Vera gel, liquid from 6 capsules of Vitamin E, liquid from 4 capsules of Vitamin A. Mix all the ingredients together in a blender. After that store the mixture in the fridge. Apply the oil externally all over the places where the stretch marks commonly appear (abdomen, hips, thighs and breasts). This is an effective home remedy for and by using this continuously stretch marks can be prevented.

Mix in a blender 1/2-cup virgin olive oil, 1/2-cup aloe Vera gel and six capsules vitamin E oil (opened). Keep this oil refrigerated and massage into areas with stretch marks at least once a day. This is also an effective home remedy for stretch marks.

You can cure or remove recent stretch marks with high doses of tretinoin applied to the mark.

Tretinoin in the form of Retisol-A, Retin-A, Stieva-A or Rejuva-A can be used that cause a realignment of the collagen in the skin.

Lift weights to tighten the surrounding skin. The stretch marks will appear smoother.

Dark Circles Under Eyes

Dark Circles Under Eyes to Turn into Shining Bright Eyes

Dark circles under eyes immediately start disappearing turning them into shining bright eyes as the eyebrows get raised naturally and lift the eyelids further up and lock them there.

The skin under the eye is thinner than the rest of the skin around. Hence the veins under it give it a blue tinge appearing as dark circles there.

· Also the skin under the eye is affected more by the sun tanning.

· Rubbing or scratching the eye darkens the skin under the eyes as well.

· Medications causing the blood vessels to dilate also pronounce these dark patches.

· Lack of nutrition discolors this area too.

· Lack of sleep or excessive fatigue turns skin pale and shows these dark patches more.

· Pregnancy and menstruation also accentuate the dark under eye circles.

· Age sags the skin, drooping the eyelids and generating bags over there. The dark circles start showing even more than before.

But the way we have been going through our previous posts not only lifts-up the drooping eyelids, removes the excess eyelid skin along with the excess fat-tissue, removes dark circles under eyes, and turns back the eyelids that have gone turned-in or turned-out; but also gets a total facelift for you without going for an anti aging eye cream or an anti wrinkle eye cream, or any surgical procedure.

Just open your eyes FULL in their TOTAL WIDTH by putting a slight smile on your lips, and you will have got the two bright eyes on your face!

And then this only is the right way you should always open your eyes in while you are awake.
If you are really interested in and really curious about whatever you are looking at, it automatically happens so.

We do need looking into this interest and curiosity thing further in its depth and we’ll certainly come out with many more pearls of biological wisdom from there.

Everyday Health Triggers Series - Road Rage

Health Triggers - Road Rage

Yoga : Accumulated stress is triggered off. When angry, you breather at 80-90 breaths/minute. When calm, its 10-11/minute. The faster your breath rate, shorter your life span.

Cardio : Sometimes in a rage, your heart attacks. Whenever there is execessive adrenaline secretion it causes constrictions in the artery and leads to a greater wear and tear of interior linings. This leads to faster atherosclerosis. Try "shavasana" to be calmer.

PostureMotionless & fixed but relaxed posture like dead body.
Procedure
  1. Spread both the legs and keep them at a distance of 1 or 1.5 feet apart. Keep the heels facing inside and allow the toes to fall outside and relax them.
  2. Take both the hands little away, say 3 to 4 inches, from the body and relax them. Keep the palms facing the roof and the fingers half - closed.
  3. Turn the neck to any side and relax it. Further, relax the muscles of the face. Keep the eyes closed with ease and without pressure. Continue extremely slow breathing.

Endo : Road Rage could be a sign that you have hypertension. Get blood pressure checked. You need to change your overall lifestyle.

Psych : Emotional stress affects the heart. Don't allow the other person to 'control' you. being 'cut off' doesn't mean the person is trying to undermine you. Don't react.

Tips for Eye Care - Part 2

Tips on Eye Care

Take time out, our 20-20-20 rule

Step I :-

After every 20 minutes of looking into the computer screen, turn your head and try to look at any object placed at least 20 feet away. This changes the focal length of your eyes, a must-do for the tired eyes.

Step II :-

Try and blink your eyes for 20 times in succession, to moisten them.

Step III :-

Time permitting of course, one should walk 20 paces after every 20 minutes of sitting in one particular posture. Helps blood circulation for the entire body.

It's all in the blinking

Did you know that on average we blink 12 times per minute? But wait, did you know that when we're on the computer we only blink 5 times per minute? That can add up to dry eyes. Relieve the discomfort by using artificial tear drops or gels and remember to blink!

Palming

Sit straight at your workstation and rub your palms against each other till you feel them warm. The warmth of your palms helps soothe and relax tired eyes. Then, lightly cup your eyes with your palms and relax for 60 seconds. Count the seconds in your mind. Repeat this exercise two to three times whenever your eyes feel tired, or as often as you want. While palming, you can either rest your elbows on your desk or keep away from the desk and cup your eyes. Both ways are fine.

Splash water on your face

During breaks, splash water on your face while closing your eyes. This has an overall relaxing effect and helps you feel refreshed.

Use tea bags

Keep two used tea bags in the refrigerator before you leave for work. Once you are home, place the tea bags on your eyes for a few minutes as you relax. This not only soothes tired eyes, but also reduces puffiness.

Eat healthy

Incorporate Vitamins A, C, and E on a daily basis; eat citrus fruits, green leafy veggies, tomatoes, spinach, poultry and dairy products. Pack a box of chopped carrots, cucumber and fresh fruits and munch in-between meals at the office.

Tips for Eye Care - Part 1

Tips on Eye Care

With so many of us spending lots of time in front of the computer every day it comes to no surprise that research is showing a rise in visual problems. What can one do?

First, it's important to find out how you can protect your eyes through eye health exams and by making a few minor changes in your computer viewing habits.

Here are some helpful Eye Care Tips -

Positioning is everything
Correct positioning of your computer, keyboard and typing copy is essential. Your screen should be positioned about an arm's length from your eyes and 20 degrees below eye level. Consider foot and wrist rests for added comfort.

Lighting can make all the difference -
Room lighting should be diffuse, not direct, to reduce glare and reflections from your screen.
Look into an internal or external glare screen and be sure to set your colour, contrast and brightness levels to suit you.

A little extra help for your glasses -
Anti-reflective coatings on the lenses of your glasses can be applied by your optometrist to reduce discomfort and to ease reduced vision from bright and/or flickering light sources such
as VDTs and fluorescent lights. And don't forget, your doctor of optometry can talk to you about eyeglasses designed specifically for people who use computers a lot.

Diabetes..Symptoms, Control and Management - Part 2

Diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes

Typically your doctor will make a diagnosis of diabetes based upon your symptoms and the results of a simple blood test. The latter will assess your blood sugar levels. A blood sample is typically taken after your have fasted overnight.

Preventing Type 2 Diabetes

Type 2 diabetes often runs in families but even so there are ways you can prevent its onset.

* Keep to a healthy weight
* Eat a healthydiet
* Ensure adequate levels of daily exercise

Type 2 Diabetes Control

Treatment depends very much upon how wellcontrolled your blood sugar levels are. Initially diabetes management andcontrol may involve dietary changes alone. Your doctor usually refers you to a local dietician to advise you about diet.

If on review diet alone has been unsuccessful then your doctor may consider medication for diabetes control. Typically, this is either metform in orgliclazide tablets.

Tablets for diabetes control act indifferent ways:

* They help the pancreas to produce more insulin  Or
* Help your body to use insulin more effectively     Or
*Slow down the rate at which glucose is absorbed by the bowel after eating a meal

For some sufferers of Type 2 diabetes treatment with dietary changes and tablets is not entirely effective for diabetes management, and they may then need insulin injections.

Diabetes..Symptoms, Control and Management - Part 1

Diabetes..Symptoms, Control and Management

What Is It?

Previously known as non-insulin dependent diabetes ormaturity onset diabetes, Type 2 diabetes is essentially a disorder of middle age onwards. However, with the increase in childhood obesity inrecent years there have been increasing reports of this form of diabetes in much younger age groups. Therein lies a clue to the origin of this disorder. Because Type 2 diabetes is closely linked to obesity. As the rates of obesity have soared over the last twenty years or so, so intandem has the incidence of Type 2 diabetes.

The underlying factor leading to Type 2 diabetes is a failure of the pancreas to produce sufficient insulin, the blood glucose controlling hormone. This may be for one or both of two
reasons. The first that there are insufficient insulin-producing cells in the pancreas to meet demands. The second that there is resistance by the body's target cells to the insulin which is produced, thus requiring increasing amounts to ensure effect. Either way the ultimate poverty of effect of insulin is related toover weight or obesity.

What happens if insulin does not work effectively?

One of the main actions of insulin is to help regulate blood sugar (or to be precise, blood glucose) levels. It achieves this in part by promoting uptake of sugar by cells e.g. muscle cells. Insufficient action of insulin leads to a reduction in sugar uptake andtherefore causes an abnormal rise in blood sugar. The result : the symptoms of diabetes.

Type 2 Diabetes Symptoms

There are a number ofsymptoms associated with type 2 diabetes, the most common are:

* Excessive thirst
* Passing of excessive amounts of urine
* Fatigue
* Frequent skin infections e.g. boils
* Itchiness

Stress Busters: Let Your Mind Heal Your Body - Part 2

Forgive

Carrying a grudge doesn't do your health any favors. "When we're stuck in not forgiving, it grinds us down," says Dr.Santorelli. Although research is ongoing, a 2006 study of patients with hypertension found that those with more anger who received forgiveness training were able to lower their blood pressure significantly .

Try it : Santorelli suggests paying attention to the thoughts and emotions that arise when you think about the person you're trying to forgive. Your willingness to work with your emotions starts a process that helps free you from feelings of resentment, sadness or anger. When possible, speak to the person you feel you need to forgive.

Pray

Many of us have sent up a prayer asking for good health for ourselves or a loved one. In fact, 75 percent of Americans surveyed have used prayer for health reasons, according to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM). Research led by Harold Koenig, M.D., at Duke University's Center for Spirituality, Theology and Health found that although prayer's effects on health aren't predictable, belonging to a religion seems to up your odds for staying well.

Try it : You might already know how to pray, but that doesn't mean it always comes naturally. If you need help getting started, Dr.Rakel suggests thinking of prayer as somewhat like meditating or simply focusing your mind's thoughts. Life is a gift to us by God Enjoy life and Be Happy.

Stress Busters: Let Your Mind Heal Your Body - Part 1

Meditate

Meditating is as good for your body as it is for your spirit. Doing it regularly will not only improve concentration and calm your mind, but research shows that it may also relieve tension headaches, make it easier to quit smoking, improve a heart condition, ease a high-cholesterol problem, relieve depression, and help reduce fibromyalgia and chronic pain.

Try it: "As little as five minutes a day of meditation can help," says David Rakel, M.D., director of the University of Wisconsin Integrative Medicine Program, in Madison, WI. "Just focus on your breath, a word or a prayer. Start simple and small, and use the breathing to guide you."

Get Happy

Positive psychology” in a nutshell, the study of happiness has found that the more joy you feel, the healthier you're likely to be. "Positive emotions make us feel lighter, happier and more at ease," says Dr.Rakel. It's hard to say, though, which comes first if being happy improves health or if wellness makes it easier to feel joy. In 2008, the Mayo Clinic reported that "people in excellent health are almost twice as likely to be happier than those in merely good health."

Try it : Volunteering may increase your happiness and health, explains "mindfulness" expert Saki Santorelli, Ed.D., associate professor of medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. "There's a sense of giving back or helping out, and the mood is elevated. That happiness, inspiration or feeling of connectedness seems to improve health."

Express Gratitude

Researchers at the University of California at Davis and Mississippi University for Women may have found a secret to being healthier and even healing faster. In 2007, the team monitored a group of patients undergoing organ transplantation and found that those who kept a daily "gratitude journal," in which they wrote down five things they were grateful for each day and why, fared better in their recovery..

Try it : Start your own gratitude journal. Try to write down five things that you're grateful for each day for three weeks. Anotheridea: "Find a spiritual anchor," says Dr. Rakel. He's being literal: The object you choose as your anchor should remind you of the things that give your life meaning and purpose. It could be a stone, a piece of jewelry or a poem folded into a trinket whatever has meaning for you and can be easily carried.

8 Tips to Take Control of Your Weight

Anyone who is overweight will testify that losing weight is not as easy as it seems. The people that are lean, or have gone from fat to skinny will say it’s just a matter of motivation and elbow grease. Although it is not as simple as that. Our environments have waged war on us. Their weapons are sedentary lives and Trans fats of mass destruction. All is not lost though, here are some quick simple tips to get ahead!

1. Substitute Water.
Our bodies are about 65-70% water. It follows that water would be not only essential, but the best possibly choice of liquids to ingest. In fact, our bodies will sometimes simulate a hunger response, when in reality the body is craving hydration. When hungry, drink a glass or two of water to check if it suppresses your hunger.

2. Chew Your Food.
Chewing our food very slowly and deliberately has several benefits that are often overlooked. It gives us the ability to relax, and enjoy our meal. Slow chewing is the first, and highly important, step in a complex system of digestion. Besides, if we eat slowly, we might feel full before finishing the whole meal, and can leave the rest for the next meal.

3. Exercise daily.
How silly of me to include something as obvious as exercise. I did a 30 day trial with waking up, and walking for 30 minutes first thing in the morning. My journal records that I was feeling amazing during the period of time that I was following this habit.

4. Publicize your intentions.
Start a blog, join a forum, and have other people keep you accountable to help. Tell other people your plan, it would help you get the motivation to go with it!

5. Create a food schedule
Plan your day so that you’re eating at approximately the same time each day. This scheduling will incorporate itself into your circadian rhythm, and aid in digestion.

6. Do not over eat.
Know your limit and stop eating when you are full. I have often been a victim of wanting to finish a meal so that it doesn’t go to waste. This has left me with many a stomach ache. Next time, doggy bag it for later, and don’t hurt yourself!

7.Choose your snacks wisely.
Put down the Lays® and cheese puffs. Pick up the apple and baby carrots. Make the right decision, I know you can do it.

8.Lifestyle.
Remember, it’s not about special diets, or special exercise programs. The real secret is in turning your health into a lifestyle, and focusing on this healthy lifestyle with every choice you make.

Home Remedies for Pimples & Acne - Part 2

Pimples and Acne

8. High in vitamin A and iron, barley can be mixed with milk and egg, to make face masks. Barley, which has been boiled, can also be used as an excellent scrub for oily skins.

9. Put egg whites all over your face (like a mask)..egg whites are driers and will remove all the impurities from your face.leave it on until every spot is dry (depends on the type of skin you have) it works so well. Use for 2-3 days or continue use. It works wonders. If you only have 1 day then use it once. it may not disappear but it will bring it way down and remove redness. It makes you skin super soft too!

10. High in vitamin A and iron, barley can be mixed with milk and egg, to make face masks. Barley, which has been boiled, can also be used as an excellent scrub for oily skins.

11. Exercise.. Exercise.. Exercise.. Exercise keeps the body continuously working, and improving. The better shape your body is in, the less stress it has. Less stress = less acne.

12. Pick the RIGHT skin care product! If you have oily skin DO NOT USE PRODUCT THAT DRIES YOUR SKIN!!! These products will help remove current pimples, but the body in turn produces MORE oil since your skin is so much drier and results in more clogged pores (acne)!

13. Drink lots of water. Not only does drinking lots of water help regulate toxins out of the body, but promotes good health anyways. Drinking lots of water has an effect on acne because the more efficient your body is running, the better it can fight those infections in your pores!

14. Eat healthy! Sorry folks, but greasy foods are not good - for anything. Not only do they raise our cholesterol levels and make our butts bigger, but they provide the extra oil and grease to clog our pores.
